Exterior After Re-model (double click for more images)
Our client bought this Surrey house because of the superb views and the brief was to re-model it to bring a fresh, open, modern feel.
Building Design Workshop and their associated building company extensively overhauled the property, obtaining planning consent to re-model the elevations and extend the front and rear of the house to rationalize the living spaces and provide generous rooms whilst at the same time replacing the tired roof, doors and windows and adding much
needed insulation and a new heating system.
The views were taken advantage of with new upper external decks and by inserting sliding patio doors at the upper and lower levels.
Internal walls, timber beams and arches were removed and the first floor beams support beams replaced creating a large open plan living area with new staircase.
The bathrooms and kitchen were stripped out and replaced and the kitchen ceiling was removed to form a double height space with an opening to bring light into the upstairs landing.
The external swimming pool was refurbished and an entertaining deck area added.
Building Design Workshop
Originally a 2 bedroom, ground floor garden apartment, our brief was to convert and re-model the flat into light, airy, open plan living accommodation, whilst exploring the full potential of using the space available.
Building Design Workshop re-designed the apartment by demolishing the walls of the dark internal corridor, thereby enlarging the remaining rooms so that their 3 dimensional proportions complemented the original high ceilings. All the main timber floors were sanded, creating a large, flowing, open plan living area that was further extended into the garden by a new external entertaining deckĀ and landscaping
Building Design Workshop also successful obtained planning consent in 2002 to convert the existing basement from a damp storage area into usable secondary accommodation.
